Guess what I have for you today? Well, if you read the title of this post, you probably already know it’s cookies. Valentine’s Day cookies!

A friend of mine wanted to learn how to decorate cookies with royal icing, so I invited her over to help me decorate my Valentine’s Day cookies. She sure was a fast learner! No ditches…perfectly smooth icing! After the “Royal Icing 101” class (hehe), she joined me in experimenting with cookie stamping. Want to learn the how to’s? Well, you are in luck! I have a tutorial for you over at The Artsy Girl Connection where I am guest blogging today. So hop over there and check out the tute! If you like it, come back over here and let me know:) While you are there, be sure to check out Marilyn’s cute blog too! Thanks Marilyn for having me over!

See you all there!

And you betcha you will find these cookies at these linky parties! A list of the linky parties I’m a part of can be found at the “Let’s Party” page.

Yesterday I took the girls to a gingerbread house class that I signed them up for at Michael’s.

Here they are at work and having fun! Bernadette, the instructor, was entertaining the students with her funny stories:) The girls and I love Bernadette!

Check out Susu’s tree. She did an awesome job! Her piping skills keep getting better and better. Keep it up Susu!!

This was Suraya’s first time piping leaves. Very good start Suraya!

Almost getting there!

By the end of the class, the roof wasn’t dry enough to put on top, so the girls had to finish the roofs at home. Ssh, don’t tell anyone, I hot glued Suraya’s roof together (hehe). Don’t worry folks, no one will be eating it! Suraya, then finished off the decorating… and TA DA.. All done! This is no ordinary gingerbread house, it’s a cookie jar gingerbread house! The roof is removable!

Susu didn’t finish hers, but when she does she may share it on her blog. I sure hope she does;)

Since I couldn’t get a good picture for you last night, I took a better one this morning:) Suraya did a fabulous job, don’t you think!!

Thanks for stopping by ya’ll! Wishing you Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!!

Will be linking at these parties as always:)

Snowball Fight Invitation

Hehe, that makes me giggle:D (For original source, just click on the image.)

I’m sure most of you know what a Snowball Cookie is, either by that name or another. Even though that is not the original name for the cookie, it’s obvious why it adopted that name:)  I was actually introduced to the cookie as Mexican Wedding Cake, but referred to it as a “Snowball Cookie” before knowing it was already referred to by that name! A few days ago, as I was thinking of making the cookies, an idea popped in my head! I thought how cute would it be to invite a family member or friend to a friendly snowball fight by sending them a bucket of Snowball Cookies!

Hey, do you guys think my tag looks like a snowball? I sure hope so! My friend Esra was my consultant on the phrase… I bugged her with text messages asking her which phrase she likes best. Thanks for the input Esra and for allowing me to harass you;P

Originally the idea was intended for family and friends only, but then another idea came about after making the tag. It reminded me of “You’ve been booed“. This can be the winter version… You’ve been snowballed! You wouldn’t necessarily have an actual snowball fight with your neighbors, it only would be sharing treats or trinkets just like “Booed”. Unless, your neighbor is willing to!

Now, we just need some snow for the games to begin! I promise, no rocks:P

I would love to hear your thoughts ya’ll so type away!

Linking up at these parties. Please do come on by and check out some great ideas from my fellow crafters!

Show & Tell!

Children, Cookies, Crafts, DIY, Dress, Eid, Fabric Flowers, Holiday Treats, Sewing

In last week’s post I mentioned that I was working on some projects. Well I have finished them and ready to share them! Yay! What was I working on you ask? Eid outfits and Eid treats, but of course! I already showed you this outfit I made for my niece, Lianna. Last week, I made one for my niece, Hana, too! Doesn’t she look adorable in her new dress and matching headband?!

Looks like her little cousin, Fawaz, is loving the dress too!

Next up are the outfits I made for my stepdaughters, Susu and Suraya. Starting with Susu…

It was love at first site with the fabric I used in this skirt:D I love the way it turned out, and so did Susu! Other than just doing a peek-a-book of the lace at the bottom of the skirt, I also included lace in the waist/hip area.

Next up is Suraya…

For Suraya’s skirt I used a pattern by Pink Fig. Her patterns are so adorable! I especially love this pattern… definitely one of my faves!

The cardigans I purchased and embellished with fabric flowers. You already know how much I love fabric flowers from this post! You’ll see more love shortly:) Hehe. I did make Susu’s hair clip, but Suraya’s I purchased about a couple months ago from a boutique in my area.

Other than making Susu and Suraya their Eid outfits, I also made them charm bracelets:) My first venture into jewelry making! They turned out cute! I didn’t get to take pictures of the bracelets, when I do I’ll be posting them on Flickr.

Alrighty, the last thing I want to share with you…

I’m sure you remember these cookies that I made as samples. Well, this time I decided to do chocolate cut out cookies. I used Lila Loa‘s The End-All for Chocolate Cookies Recipe! If you like chocolate cookies, you are going to love these! If not, she may just convert you;) I have to give credit to the oh so inspiring Sweet Sugarbelle for leading me to Lila Loa’s recipe and awesome blog! Go check out Lila Loa’s cookies and her “how to” section. And definitely don’t forget to check out Sweet Sugarbelle as well! See the amazing different cookie shapes she can get out of one cutter!! Talk about thinking outside the box!!

Ok.. so I, along with my sil Suzan, made chocolate cookies and we decorated them with the stencils. How about the packaging? After much thinking I came up with an idea using the following materials: a box, tissue paper, twine, and a fabric flower (told you I’d be showing more love!).

And this is the final product…

I love the way they turned out. Cute and simple!

If you want to learn how to make these flowers, check out this tutorial at Live.Love.Craft. This is the tutorial I did follow but I cut out circles instead because due to time restraints it was faster for me to make circle cut outs. And I glued a piece of ribbon on the back of the flower and tied it to the handle. That’s it!

Hope you enjoyed my show and tell!
