In the last post I told you I went thrift shopping last week and shared one of my finds. Guess what? I couldn’t resist the President’s Day sale, so I went again on Monday (50%/66% off!). Ready to see more of what I scored and what I did with them?
The yellow doily and bed sheet were part of last week’s finds. $2.00 for the sheet and $.50 for the doily. The bird house on a stand was $.67; the birdhouse is easily removable. The round frame I found at the antique mall for $3.50.
I grabbed some supplies I had on hand that I thought would help me with my project: twine, paint, tiny clothespins, resin flowers, wooden alphabet tags, and a 12″ cake board.
I removed the bird house and only used the stand for this project (stay tuned for the next post to find out what I do with the bird house). I painted it a color close to the color of the frame (I combined the green and sky blue paints).
And here’s the rest of it! I LOVE my framed doily stand:D I hope ya’ll do too!
On my spring mantel it shall go!
See ya next time!
Stop by these awesome linky parties where you will find me and my fellow crafters.

What a great idea to make a doily stand! I certainly would never have thought of it, but then again, you are a creative genius, so I should stop being surprised. Have you ever been to the Village Discount thrift stores? There was one in Elgin and another in Aurora that I went to while living out there. I just googled them and it looks like there are many, many locations throughout Chicagoland. Anyway, huge, very cheap (at least 7 years ago) and well worth the 45 minutes each way I’d drive to go!
I’m smiling over my breakfast imagining a day spent thrift shopping with my friend Maysem even if I never have met her in person! (Oooh, I really hope that didn’t sound creepy!)

This is very cute – My Mother-In-Law just got a ton of doillies from her mother and they are just sitting in a box and I never thought about framing them, I will have to see if I can figure out something like that she might be able to do with all of them.
I would love to invite you to come by my blog next week for my new “Get Inspired Monday” blog hop and link this up. The top picks will be featured on my blog and facebook.

I love the idea of framing a pretty doily for art!! This is one of those things that makes me wonder why I didn’t think of that.

Fun, fun, fun! I have a BUNCH of lace doilies sitting around the house that I’ve either acquired from my crafty grandmother or from random purchases. This would be a great way to honor my grandmother without changing my personal style. Thanks! Pinning for future reference!
